T-Mobile is now offering the much awaited LG G2X. A lot of hype has been built for this amazing Android smartphone, after all, it is packs the super powerful Nvidia Tegra 2 chip that has two cores. Other specs include a front facing camera, 4 inch display and Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system. I was able to spend some time with the unit and was completely blown away by the speeds. It really delivers great performance. In the hands, it does feels like a premium handset. Measuring 4.9 x 2.5 x 0.4 inch thick, it has rounded corners and has soft touch finish on its back. Overall, it does gives a solid, luxurious feel in the hands. The display is IPS type and has exceptional contrast levels.
Performance wise, Tegra 2 really impressed me. Opening a page was so much quicker and multitasking. The processor is capable of doing much more than that. It can record full HD video and can of course, play them on the device itself. The quality good enough for family and YouTube videos. I wished it came with 1GB RAM, but I did not notice any slowdowns with 512MB RAM. For storage, you get 8GB flash, expandable via micro SD card slot.
So, is there anything not to like about it? Well, I was a bit disappointed with its camera – the saturation levels were really low, making the pictures look dull. However, the pros outweigh the cons by a long shot. If your contract is getting over sometime soon, get it. You would not regret it.
Too bad, Spring and Verizon, both would be carrying this cell phone. Still interested? The phone is available for 200 dollars for a 2 year old contact and if you hate contracts (like me), you will have to pay 500 dollars.
