Android 9 update is now available for the popular android TV, RKM DS02. This guide will also help you if you want to hard reset your RKM DS02 since you will be flashing a brand new Android 9 ROM onto it. RKM DS02 is powered by Rockchip RK3328 SoC that integrates four ARM Cortex-A53 processors and a Mali-450 MP2 GPU that includes native H.265 and VP9 video decoding up to 4K@60fps resolutions with support for HLG HDR. It also has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of eMMC storage memory on board that we can expand by adding a memory card in the micro SD card reader included on the back.
To flash new ROM / firmware onto your RKM DS02 android TV, you will have download the android 9 firmware from here. Make sure to download files on your windows PC. Unrar it using winrar – trial version will work just fine. You will also need micro SD card.
Insert the card into computer and format it using FAT32.
Download Rockchip create upgrade app from here and start it. Make sure to start it in administrator mode. Right click > run as administrator. Then, in the app, choose your USB drive, select SD boot and locate the img file obtained by unrar-ing the RKM DS02 firmware.
Click on Restore button to start copy the ROM onto the micro SD card. Take it out once process has completed.
With RKM DS02 android TV turned off, insert the micro SD card; keep reset button pressed and connect RKM DS02 to power. The flashing process will start automatically and it will take few minutes for RKM DS02’s firmware update to complete. This will delete any date previously there on your android TV, thus hard resetting it.
