OnePlus has churned out 6T and just like company’s last iterations; it is being touted as flagship killer. Now that 6T has been launched, what has changed and which one should you buy, especially since OnePlus 6 can be bought at much cheaper price tag now?
Indisplay fingerprint scanner
OnePlus 6T comes with a fingerprint scanner that is built into the display. While it is not the first company to do, it is the first snapdragon 845 phone with indisplay fingerprint scanner and such high end specifications. The OnePlus 6 has a fingerprint scanner that is located on the back. While it is still faster on 6, the 6T one is more futuristic.
Availability in US
OnePlus 6T will be the first OnePlus device that will be offered officially via carrier in United States. This is a big deal as this makes it an excellent and much cheaper alternative to Samsung galaxy note 9, galaxy s9 and iPhone – all of which cost atleast 2 times or 3 times compared to OnePlus’s $500 price tag.
Bigger battery
OnePlus 6T comes with a bigger 3700mAh battery which is quite a bump from OnePlus 6’s 3300mAh battery. This is much appreciated when you fastest mobile processor inside.
Better multitasking performance
Both android phones come with same processor but now, it is possible to get 128GB / 256 GB storage combos with 8GB RAM. There is still a 6GB variant available. More memory means you can play online slots while watching a movie on amazon prime and crunching video in background without running out of memory. 8GB RAM is standard on high end laptops but latest android apps and games can push a phone to its limits.
Waterdrop notch
OnePlus 6T will be the first phone in US to boast a waterdrop notch. This is much smaller than iPhone notch and looks much better. While we still applaud Samsung for not embracing notches, OnePlus waterdrop notch is way better than huge iPhone X notch.
No headphone jack
This is the biggest shocker for OnePlus users. The company used to troll companies for ditching the headphone jack but with the OnePlus 6T, it is joining its rivals. This gives Samsung and LG a definitive edge over new 6T since their flagships still don a headphone jack.
Verdict – The OnePlus 6T is more expensive than the outgoing OnePlus 6 but that it brings improved design, bigger battery and memory. However, it drops headphone jack which makes the older OnePlus 6 a better deal right now.
