Cloudmedia is a brand that is long associated with media players. Now it has launched an android TV box called the Cloudmedia Open Hour Gecko and it packs some pretty amazing specifications. One of the main selling points of the Cloudmedia Open Hour Gecko are going to be its ability to handle 4K content.
To process 4k content, you need powerful processing and with Cloudmedia Open Hour Gecko, you are getting exactly that. Powered by Hi3798M processor which is based on ARM Cortex A7 processor and Mali 450MP6 GPU, it comes with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of NAND storage memory and WiFi b / g / n with external antenna.
Ports selection includes USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 port, micro SD card reader, HDMI port, 10/100 connector, SPDIF digital audio output jack and A / V.
Operating system, as expected is android but we have no word on its version. From the screenshots, it appears to run a skin that looks very much like the Windows 8’s metro user interface. We do know that it supports 4K video playback. It is on sale for about $90.
